MEET DR. CASAREZ-QUINTANA

Dr. Alicia Casarez-Quintana is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, but considers herself part Texan, having completed all of her higher education in Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus in Pre-Dentistry from Baylor University, where she was also a Division I soccer player. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), graduating with distinction and induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.

Following dental school, Dr. Casarez-Quintana completed a two-year Advanced General Dentistry residency at UTHSCSA before returning to Albuquerque to practice alongside her father. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for surgery and periodontics, leading her back to UTHSCSA to pursue specialty training in Periodontics.

During her residency, she earned a master’s degree in biomedical sciences for her research comparing two bone graft materials following tooth extraction. Her work earned the GSBS Outstanding MS Student Research Award and an invitation to present at the EAO Congress in Geneva, Switzerland. She has also contributed to several scientific publications.

A Board-Certified Periodontist, Dr. Casarez-Quintana is certified in nitrous oxide, oral conscious, and IV moderate conscious sedation, with a strong focus on patient comfort and comprehensive care.

With extensive experience in both private practice and academia, she is dedicated to a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to treatment. After several years practicing in the northeastern US, Dr. Casarez-Quintana recently returned to Texas, where she now serves as Assistant Program Director for the residency program at UTHSCSA and caring for patients in private practice.

Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, and attending concerts and music festivals.
